While pursuing her master’s in Marathi literature, Shrutika became a PUKAR Youth Fellow,
completed a diploma in Marathi journalism at St. Xavier’s College and an advance level course of
Indian Society for Applied Behaviour Sciences (ISABS), thus giving her the edge to become a
facilitator. With a deep familiarity with her native Girangaon, Shrutika became one of the 5 main
researchers for the now famous project of Mythology of Mumbai that was ultimately exhibited in
the prestigious Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya of Mumbai. Her rich contribution
to exploring slum health issues has led to her co-authoring six papers in international peer
reviewed journals and she has successfully presented those at international conferences
including Harvard University.
Shrutika joined as a co-director for Digital Literacy project that was initiated in 2014 in the
Adivasi block of Palghar district that 5 years later led to launching a significant project of
Strengthening Local Democracy in Vikramgarh, thus working with the Panchayat Raj Initiative
(PRI). In addition, she has been supporting a team of Adivasi facilitators who have been
inculcating gender responsive behaviour in students for Ashramshala. These total ten years of
experience in various life struggles of these deeply marginalized Adivasi villagers has given
Shrutika proficiency in comprehending the difficulties of daily life of these communities and the
possible solutions to ease their struggles in small but meaningful ways. In this process Shrutika
has successfully built cordial relationship with the top notch government officers of different
departments of the district Palghar who support her various activities, thus helping to enhance
the impact she strives to achieve.
