Self Help Groups in M-East ward of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai

The group was keen on exploring the Self Help Group model of the women in M-East ward - an area that has consistently recorded the lowest Human Development Index (HDI) for the city of Mumbai - with a special focus on the jewellery/accessory manufacturers. Through their research, they tried to understand the challenges faced by SHG women in a competitive market, reasons for their success or failure and the influence of community environment on their businesses.
