About the Subject:
Does a young woman have the right and the capacity to take a decision about her own life by her own choice? That was the question nagging Tejal and her friends. In our deeply patriarchal society, can a young woman project herself and her opinions as an independent person? They decided to find this out by doing research on that issue.

Challenges & Learnings:
Most of the young women from the group belonged to lower middle class and were facing these questions themselves. During the process of the year, in addition to the subject matter related knowledge, they also acquired finesse in their interviewing skills.

Conclusion:
Their research resulted in the conclusion that the ability to take independent decisions is a skill which is more a matter of each individual’s innate nature and the values of the family bequeathed to him/her and their ability to mould the situation. This is a process that each of the youth faces often in everyday life, in trivial matters and in serious matters. So the young girls need to develop the habit and the ability which is free of their economic independence.

End Product:
This group created a video documentary depicting their conclusions and shared it with their colleagues.
