About the Subject:
All the members of this group were students of St Joseph College. They were living in Agashi Village and other surrounding areas in Vasai district. Most of the Water Resorts around Mumbai exist in this belt off the seashore.

These resorts make extensive use of water, while people living in this area face many problems due to lack of drinking water and irrigation for their fields. The group members approached owners of resorts, people from the community and well-wishers of the society to get information about the issue.

Challenges & Learnings:
To collect data from resort owners was a big challenge for this group. Resort owners often did not give authentic information as some of them did not have the required licenses and many of them broke government rules on a regular basis.

The group members used mapping as a research method. They also learnt how to talk to different people such as the village sarpanch, resort owner, people of the community etc. They learnt to conduct interviews and to prepare case studies. They also used photography in their final research report.

The group writes in their final research report that this research work also provided them an opportunity to practice management Principle s of Henry Feyol like Organizing, Controlling and Motivating which they were taught in college.

Conclusion:
The group found out the extent of water usage by the resorts – one resort requires 1,39,265 liters of water to fill one pool at a time! 63.33% of the respondents said that Water resorts were the main cause for shortage of water in Vasai district – lakhs of liters of water gets wasted just for the sake of entertainment. All the respondents also said that the salinity of water had increased because the resorts drained out most of the sweet water from the existing water table.

End Product:
The group has prepared a short Video documentary.
