About the Subject:
This group of young adults in their late teens and early twenties explored questions of relationships, marriage and what these meant to their generation in their locality – Kalyan, one of Mumbai’s northernmost suburbs.

Challenges & Learnings:
Through a questionnaire designed by the group members, they interviewed young people in their colleges. Being a group comprising of both sexes from diverse communities, questions of marriage also became questions of tradition, freedom, of empowerment and finally, security. In this introduction to research methodology, they also discovered the challenge of objectivity. The group also sought to reach beyond the circumscribed geography of the college campus to involve youth in the larger neighborhood through debates on their research question.

Conclusion:
Young people find both love marriages and arranged marriages attractive. However, their decisions were deeply influenced by traditions, their own empowerment and ideas about future economic stability.

End Product:
Posters, mock –horoscopes of arranged and love marriages printed on mugs for dissemination.
