On July 23, 2005, the Gender and Space project, in collaboration with other women’s groups and human rights organisations in the city, helped organise a mass demonstration from Nagpada junction to Azad Maidan to express collective outrage with the regime of fatwa politics, especially with regard to the June 2005 Imrana case in U.P, and the increased number of fatwas being issued to Muslim women in general in and around Mumbai.
